Nigeria’s solar market is in its early stages of development but with high potential and a promising future. With the current installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity at just 1 watt per capita, there is significant potential for growth. Experts predict that Nigeria could reach up to 8 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030, driven by the country’s increasing energy needs and favorable conditions for renewable energy.
Eco Green Energy had the opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s renewable energy future by supplying solar PV modules for two commercial solar projects. These installations highlight the growing shift towards clean energy in one of Africa’s most dynamic countries.
Challenge
Nigeria faces significant energy challenges, with a large portion of the population still lacking access to reliable electricity. The national grid is often unstable, leading to frequent blackouts and reliance on costly diesel generators. This inconsistency not only affects businesses and homes but also hinders economic growth. For many businesses a stable power supply is critical to maintaining productivity. As energy demand continues to rise, the pressure to find sustainable, affordable solutions increases.
Our Solution
To address these challenges, two commercial solar power projects were completed using 132 pieces of Eco Green Energy’s EOS Mono 400W PV modules. These projects deliver clean, reliable, and sustainable energy, reducing dependence on the unreliable grid and expensive fuel-powered generators.
The EOS Mono 400W modules were selected for their superior performance and durability in the face of Nigeria’s harsh weather conditions. These modules utilize 5BB Monocrystalline technology, with efficiency reaching up to 20.16%. Their high-quality aluminum frame and IP68 junction box ensure resistance to heavy wind loads (up to 2400 Pa) and other environmental stressors, making them ideal for long-term installations.
Additionally, the EOS Mono 400W modules perform exceptionally well in low-light conditions, ensuring consistent energy generation even on cloudy days. This feature is critical for maintaining energy output, especially in regions like Nigeria, where sunlight can vary. The double EL test conducted before and after lamination further guarantees the highest quality and reliability, ensuring optimal performance over the system’s lifetime.
