In southern France, the move toward sustainable agriculture is moving forward steadily. In the heart of Occitania, three new commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects are completed. The aim: helping local agricultural businesses reduce energy costs while improving long-term energy resilience.

Developed in partnership with Energesia, the projects combine high-efficiency TOPCon 510W bifacial full-black modules with practical energy strategies tailored to real agricultural operations.

Together, the installations represent a total capacity of 910 kWp across farming and wood-processing applications.

Project Introduction: Agricultural Solar Projects

Occitania is known not only for its strong solar irradiation, but also for its agricultural importance. As France’s leading agricultural region and one of Europe’s largest organic farming areas, the region faces increasing pressure to modernize operations while managing rising electricity costs.

To support this, three new solar installations were developed in Aureville, Damiatte, and Beaumont-de-Lomagne. The projects were designed to balance self-consumption and solar arbitrage strategies, allowing local businesses to maximize the value of solar production throughout the year.

Combined project highlights include:

  • 910 kWp total installed capacity
  • 1,794 TOPCon 510W bifacial full-black modules
  • More than 1.19 GWh of annual projected production
  • Significant long-term electricity savings and solar revenue generation

Challenge

Agricultural businesses often operate with highly variable electricity consumption profiles. Seasonal demand, machinery usage, processing equipment, and refrigeration systems can create complex energy requirements that make traditional electricity sourcing expensive and unpredictable.

At the same time, many rural businesses in France are looking for solutions that can:

  • Lower operational costs without disrupting daily operations
  • Improve long-term energy independence
  • Maintain strong performance despite changing weather conditions
  • Maximize rooftop and available installation space
  • Balance direct self-consumption with grid export opportunities

For agricultural and forestry businesses, profitability depends on finding energy solutions that remain stable over decades — not just during periods of high energy prices.

Our Solution

Working closely with Energesia, the projects were developed using TOPCon 510W bifacial full-black technology selected for its balance of efficiency, reliability, and strong energy yield in commercial applications.

Each site was optimized according to its operational needs:

Aureville — Wood Processing Facility

The 280 kWp installation supports a wood-processing operation focused on solar arbitrage opportunities.

Key projected results include:

  • 368 MWh annual energy production
  • Approximately €29,000 in yearly arbitrage revenue

 

Damiatte — Agricultural Farm

The 300 kWp system combines self-consumption with grid export strategies to improve energy flexibility.

Projected benefits include:

  • 395 MWh annual energy production
  • Around €27,000 annual arbitrage revenue
  • Approximately €8,500 in yearly electricity bill savings

 

Agricultural Solar Installations in France

Beaumont-de-Lomagne — Farm Installation

Designed for larger self-consumption capacity, the 330 kWp project helps reduce operational energy dependence while creating additional solar value.

Expected results include:

  • 434 MWh annual energy production
  • Around €21,000 annual arbitrage revenue
  • Approximately €28,000 in yearly electricity savings

Across all three projects, bifacial TOPCon technology helps improve overall generation performance while maintaining an aesthetic full-black design suitable for modern agricultural facilities.
