As energy markets in the Balkans transition toward self-reliance, Eco Green Energy (EGE) partnered with a leading local EPC in Bosnia and Herzegovina Eling to deliver a sophisticated Solar & Storage project of 211kWh / 100kW BESS.

The model: EGE GAIA Core 211kWh AIO.

Founded in 2008 and driven by French engineering standards, EGE provided a “One-Stop” solution that goes beyond hardware delivery. This project serves as a flagship for industrial energy optimization in the region, demonstrating how integrated BESS and EMS can transform a solar installation into a high-performance revenue asset.

System Function

  • System type: On‑grid (supports grid‑connected operation)
  • Use scenario: Autonomous energy power from an existing PV system, with AC coupling, supplying an industrial site with the grid as backup
  • Key operational constraint: The battery is set up by the EMS to discharge into the grid – it does not charge from the grid

The battery’s primary functions are:

    1. Increase solar self-consumption – storing excess PV production instead of exporting it immediately
    2. Discharge into the grid when beneficial (grid feed‑in)
    3. Provide backup power to the industrial site when the grid is unavailable

Challenge

While the hardware was correctly installed, the project faced critical hurdles during the commissioning phase that are common in industrial storage:

  • EMS Complexity: The system required precise EMS settings to manage the 211kWh LFP battery (704V nominal, 0.5C rate) and the integrated 100kW PCS, ensuring it never charges from the grid.

  • Technical Knowledge Gap: As the EPC’s first large-scale storage project, there was a need for high-level technical transfer to ensure independent operation and long-term maintenance.

Our Solution

 The EGE Technical Support Approach

Eco Green Energy intervened with a two-step optimization strategy led by our R&D team in France and our commercial office in Shanghai.

  • Immediate Remote Support: EGE engineers provided live video assistance to identify configuration gaps and stabilize initial EMS parameters, preventing project delays and ensuring the grid‑charging function remained disabled as required.

On-Site Expert Commissioning: Our R&D Director and Head Engineer traveled from France to the site to conduct:

  •  System Fine Tuning: Adapting the integrated EMS to the site’s real load profile, existing PV production, and grid constraints (400V / 50Hz, 3 phase 4 wire).
  • Functional Validation: Confirming the battery charges only from solar (no grid charging) and discharges into the grid or supplies the site as programmed.
  • Technical Training: A live workshop for the EPC and end client, covering the integrated LCD monitoring, Modbus RTU/MQTT protocols, and remote control capabilities.

Conclusion

The project highlights the difference between a supplier and a partner. By moving from theoretical design to operational reality – with the EMS correctly configured for PV only charging and grid dispatchable discharge – the system became fully operational from day one.

The 261kWh BESS now provides the client with increased solar self-consumption, discharge capability into the grid (on-grid operation) and a secure backup power supply when needed.

This successful execution in Bosnia underscores EGE’s commitment to supporting our partners from installation to performance, ensuring that every kilowatt stored is a kilowatt optimized.
